DEVELOPMENT PHASE

The final phase of the procured innovation process

The development phase

In the final phase, only the supplier or suppliers are left in the procurement process who are expected to produce a solution ready for implementation. Since the development of an implementation-ready solution is now procured, most of the procurement budget is allocated to the development phase. In terms of time, the development phase is also the longest phase.

Since the suppliers do not develop according to a traditional requirement specification, but co-develop with the needs owners, it is important that the needs owners and suppliers continue to have close contact during the development phase, according to the principle that interaction triggers insights.

Example from "Experience my reality"

In the case "Experience my reality" the development phase was 12 weeks long. One of the suppliers, Virotea, had its contract extended, and a further development from MVP to an implementation-ready solution was negotiated.

In collaboration with the need owners, Virotea developed ten VR scenarios, which showed different forms of cognitive impairment. Five for staff in elderly care and five for staff in LSS.
