THIS IS HOW VÄRMLAND DRIVES THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE WELFARE TECHNOLOGY OF THE FUTURE
Värmland has become a test environment for digital welfare technology. In this week's TechWalk, we meet Mari Banck, development manager at Region Värmland, and Rickard Forsman, CEO of Geras Solutions, who talk about the value of new technology reaching both patients and healthcare staff at an early stage.
Mari Banck is one of the pioneers in creating testbeds for digital welfare technology in Värmland. In 2019, she contributed to opening the first real test environment within the framework of the DigitalWell Arena, when two researchers from Karlstad University received permission for a study at Central Hospital in Karlstad. It was a door opener and since then several other digital services and products have been able to be tested in Värmland healthcare.
Right now, Geras Solutions' digital platform is being tested to support dementia investigations by Torsby and Likenäs care centers. Today, approximately 150,000 Swedes live with a diagnosis of dementia, and with a rapidly aging population, the number is expected to double in the next 30 years. Here, digital tools can play a major role in shortening investigation times and contributing to more equal care.
