    Kitesurfing & sustainable innovation

It is completely steaming in Varberg today, the heat is almost overwhelming. However, it is more common that it is windy here. Very. Year round. Most people have a little trouble with the wind, but not us. It is not something we can change so we choose to relate to it, create from it and in fact we have learned to love it. Six years ago, we chose to start kitesurfing, so we've been doing that when the wind blows and the vast majority of people are jumping over the surfboard. We're still pretty cash on it but it's FUN none the less!

So, why a blog post about kite surfing here at DigitalWell Arena? Easy! The example with the kitesurfing contains all parts as the following the training on Sustainable Innovation autumn 2020 includes which we arrange together with Compare. A course led by Anna Linton and Lovisa Jacobsson from We are Bark, two amateur kitesurfer from Varberg also process manager within sustainable innovation and development. So to the similarities then:

    1. Sustainable innovation, as well as choosing to kite surfing as Varberger, is about that create based on the prevailing conditions within the organization and in the outside world. We need tools to be able to rig teams that are agile and which creates based on a rapidly changing environment. It's about taking advantage of the changes, having tools to discover the possibilities and quickly testing ideas and theses.
    1. JOY. Innovation without joy does not exist. Of course, innovation can come from moods other than joy – like boredom, for example. Being bored can make you creative. But did you know that there is a similarity between boredom and happiness? Can you guess which one? Absence of stress. Yes - it's that simple (and just as difficult). Creativity and problem solving = innovation, comes from a mood in the body where stress is not present. And actually – this is part of the Sustainable Innovation training in autumn 2020. How do we create processes where stress is not present? There are methods for this and you will learn them - as an individual for yourself as much as in a leadership role.

You can find more about what you actually get out of the training and how it is laid out here.

Who are we then when we don't kite surfersWe are Bark is the experience and innovation agency that makes people develop and develop - together. Sustainability is at the core of everything we do and with inspiration from Design Thinking we create processes through, and training on, scientifically proven methods and tools for development and innovation. For over 15 years, we have worked in the borderland between the public, private and academic sectors. We have met cultural developers, destination developers, entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs, politicians and civil servants both in Sweden and abroad. We have met passionate people who are really passionate about what they work for. People who push forward under their own power and who have the habit of doing everything themselves. We want to create a sustainable future together with YOU!
