Here are the nominees for Digital Welfare Innovation of the Year

Stapler, Buho Box and Waiting times in care. There you have three innovations that have already made or will make an impression on society. At the business gala 100 degrees Karlstad, one of them is named the digital welfare innovation of the year.

Magnus Hagberg, Mond Digital Solutions, Semir Hadiahmetagic, Stepler, Sofi Finnstam, Ineq Solutions, Lina Svensberg, Compare, Niklas Frisk, Stepler, Torgny Eriksson, Mond Digital Solutions and Sara Lindahl, Ineq Solutions.

The three nominated contributions were revealed on Thursday at an event in Swedbank's premises. The digital services address extremely pressing challenges for society; physical activity, a safe school environment and well-functioning care. Who will be the final winner is revealed below 100 degrees Karlstads gala evening, March 20, where a further eleven awards that draw attention to the local business community are awarded.

Behind the Digital Welfare Innovation of the Year award is the EU project DigitalWell, which is run by Compare. DigitalWell's aim is to bring together business, the public sector and academia to jointly develop digital tools to solve challenges in welfare. The starting point is to solve actual needs with a focus on the user and his own abilities.

    Many qualified contributions

An important part of DigitalWell's work is to support small and medium-sized companies to contribute to the innovation process aimed at the public sector. As part of that work, DigitalWell awards the digital welfare innovation of the year award.

    - This year we have received many highly qualified nomination proposals, which demonstrate good innovativeness. It gives a bright picture of the possibilities for new digital health services to emerge in Värmland, says Lina Svensberg, process manager at DigitalWell.

The prize is awarded to a company that has developed, or is developing, an innovative digital solution to an urgent problem in welfare. The solution must have a clear starting point in user-friendliness and create value for both society and the individual. It must have national and international potential that demonstrates Värmland's ability to innovate.

Sara Lindahl and Sofi Finnstam from Ineq Solutions think that the award recognizes the best of both worlds. They both work as school counselors and, thanks to the collaboration with Mond Digital Solutions, have succeeded in creating a completely new product by mixing analog knowledge with digital technology

    - I would say that the interest in making sociograms at school has been a bit dormant. With the help of digital technology, it can be done much faster and becomes an important analysis support, says Sofi Finnstam.

Here are the nominated innovations and the companies behind them:

    • The app Staples is a pedometer that rewards each unique user according to their performance. Stepler combines gamification and health, and the points users collect in the app by moving can then be used to redeem products, services and experiences in Stepler's shop. In just over a month since its launch, the app has been downloaded over 15,000 times and during February it was at the top as the most downloaded health app in Sweden in both the App Store and Google Play. The service attacks one of our major public health problems, sedentary behavior, which increases the risk of a number of diseases and premature death.
    • Vantetider.se is a web service that Redpill Linpro has developed together with SKR, Swedish municipalities and regions. The service offers a quick overview of the waiting time situation in the Swedish healthcare system. By starting from an Open Source-based platform, Redpill Linpro has ensured that the client does not have to pay for expensive software licenses - which creates flexibility and means that resources stay in healthcare. The data the service delivers is also the basis for the distribution of the so-called queue billion.
    • BuhoBox offers a digital toolbox to create a safe environment that gives all children the chance to complete their schooling. According to a survey by the Norwegian Public Health Authority, school is the single biggest factor in children and young people's mental illness.
Buhobox combines accepted, psychosocial methods with digital technology. One of the tools is a sociogram that is based on the students' own answers, it visualizes relationships and catches if someone is about to end up in an exclusion. The service is developed in collaboration between Ineq Solutions and Mond Digital Solutions.
