Medication nonadherence for patients with chronic diseases is extremely common, affecting as many as 40% to 50% of patients who are prescribed medications for the management of chronic conditions such as diabetes or hypertension. This nonadherence to prescribed treatment is thought to cause at least 100,000 preventable deaths and $100 billion in preventable medical costs per year.

Technology can help both medical professionals and patients to manage the medication non-adherence problem, and Mevia demonstrates how hardware and software can be married together to solve this complex challenge.

Mevia’s journey began as a spin-off from Chalmers Technical University with a vision to solve the problem of non-adherence, and was then tested in real-world studies in the UK and Nordics, showing great customer satisfaction and improving adherence.

Mevia offers a customisable adherence solution, that through the combination of software and hardware helps you achieve optimal adherence support. Mepill and Medose measure the extraction of a dose through cellular connectivity and send the information in real time. Mevia can then visualise the extractions and support patients through our customised dashboards and Apps.
