How can digital and technological design take the individual into account and start from a feminist perspective? In this week's TechTalk, Tara Mehrabi and Sebastian Mohr from the Center for Gender Studies at Karlstad University raise the ethical issues behind the systems.
Digitization can create opportunities for a more inclusive and equal society. At the same time, several studies show that digitization can also increase inequalities if social categories such as gender, ethnicity and class are not taken into account in innovation processes.
Tara Mehrabi and Sebastian Mohr talk about some of the pitfalls we can fall into when we try to create solutions that will fit everyone.
- There is a risk that people will be reduced to numbers if we place great importance on technological and digital systems, but not as much on socio-cultural context, personal experiences and needs, says Tara Mehrabi.
In addition, you will find out more about the Center for Gender Research pilot study within the framework of DigitalWell Research, which focuses on challenges three often overlooked user groups may face in the digitization of healthcare.

All our TechTalks are streamed, and during the current pandemic they only take place digitally. By joining the Facebook group TechTalk Värmland are you always on top of the week's topic. Please have a microphone and camera ready, so you can ask questions live and participate in the discussion part. It is of course also possible to interact via the chat. You can view all TechTalks retrospectively from the same group.
