Together with the Rinaldo project, DigitalWell Arena has applied to run a two-year investment aimed at preventive, digital care. The aim is to try to prevent or reduce the burden of chronic diseases at an early stage by collecting data at the individual level.
Behind the application to Vinnova's program for challenge-driven innovation is Region Västerbotten within the framework of the Rinaldo project, where DigitalWell Arena is a partner. Rinaldo is another Vinnova-financed venture.
DigitalWell Arena's goal is to work primarily with the development of data collection and data infrastructure within the framework of the joint project. There is much evidence that the right data at the individual level could lead to the prevention of ill-health and fundamentally influence the healthcare system to become more proactive.
Today's healthcare often only gets a snapshot of the patient's behavior and other health-related information. By paying attention to early warning signs of ill health, more people would be able to maintain good health, while reducing the burden on care.
In order to increase the possibilities for preventive efforts, there is also an ambition in the project to work with data linked to lifestyle, obtained on a voluntary basis, which can affect health. It could, for example, be about involuntary loneliness, sexual or drug habits.
Can provide event-triggered notifications to individuals
The joint project is based on collecting individual data, evaluating this and implementing solutions based on a digital platform. It would enable more secure use of data to engage patients with event-triggered, personalized messages and encourage better lifestyles.
- By partnering with Rinaldo and their expertise, we enable a faster build-up of the work with preventive health, based on user-driven innovation, in real test environments. With DigitalWell Arena's close connections to business, we complement each other in the ambition to create the health services of the future - where the individual is at the helm, says Cecilia Karlsson, innovation leader at DigitalWell Arena.
Sensor technology as support for the elderly
Within the project, DigitalWell Arena has prepared a case aimed at preventing ill health in the elderly using solutions based on IoT and sensor technology. Sensors in the home could, among other things, contribute with data on the elderly's movements and medication intake, for increased security and more proactive medication management. It can also involve installing simple tools for digital communication that provide increased security.
The application to Vinnova was submitted in mid-March and information on whether the project is granted a grant is expected in May.
