"My investigation"
With the help of an innovative solution, IUS innovation together with Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP) Västmanland has developed an app that will help children and young people under investigation for ADHD or Asperger's Syndrome, for example.

Together with psychologists, sociologists and doctors from BUP in Region Västmanland, IUS innovation has developed the app "My investigation" to help children, young people and their guardians understand and at the same time follow what happens when an investigation is carried out at BUP. The app has been created with an easy-to-understand interface and a playful design to let the children's perspective be the focus.
- An investigation can be perceived as scary and complicated, but it doesn't have to be, says Kristina Björkman, concept developer at IUS innovation for My investigation.
In the creation of the My investigation app, the focus was on making an investigation process clearer, which can otherwise be difficult to grasp, for those who have to go through it.
- Both BUP and we at IUS thought it was important that the app felt playful and fun. That's why we built a sense of play into the design, especially in the parts of the app that are directly aimed at children and young people, says Kristina.
Based on the child's perspective
Game influences are expressed, for example, through the way the child creates his own avatar; where the child can choose which hair, face and clothes the avatar should have. Being able to design your own character is not only meant as a fun part of the game, but allows the user to relate to their character and their journey. The avatar walks along the path and shows where in the process the child is right now. By clicking on a stage visible along the path, the child receives detailed information in the form of images, text and voice. Even the overall look and sound of the game is inspired by games. At the same time, it was important to focus on the fact that the app would not primarily be a game, but convey its purpose and stay within its budget.
- Despite the fact that we had little funds available for this development, we have together managed to achieve a result that we believe will provide good support for children and parents who are part of an investigation at BUP, says Marie Frey, business developer at BUP Västmanland. And explains that IUS innovation has made them think from the child's perspective, both from the perspective of how the process is visualized and how it is described, for example which language is used. Words and concepts that an investigator uses can be difficult for a child to understand.
Recently received a report today that the app was used by a 7-year-old boy who was going to do an investigation, and received a lot of help from the app. He had come excited to the visit for tests! Now we look forward to continuing to use the app, which has just been rigorously tested by representatives from the target group, who also get to give their opinion. The next step in further development of the app is to expand with more functions and correct things based on the feedback that comes out through the tests.
IUS innovation
Today, we are located in the cities of Gothenburg, Skövde and Oslo with excellence in technical innovations, behavior change and applying game mechanisms in contexts that are not normally associated with games.
Warmland is an exciting and innovative region where IUS fits in very well. Where large investments are made in the area of healthcare and health through, among other things, the investment DigitalWell Arena. We see an increased interest in gamification and game development from both universities and business life in Värmland. These the areas are ours home ground and we believe that with our experience and skills we could contribute with something positive for the region
