Methodology support for testing in a real environment

What is Test in real environment?

Testing in a real environment is a structured process and method support for testing a service or product in a real environment, i.e. where it is intended to be used and with real users who make up the target group for the service or product.

Testing is done with the aim of producing quality-related information about a service or product for stakeholders. It is central to the development and use of digital health services based on needs. Knowledge about tests and the implementation of test activities is therefore a prerequisite for innovation and transformation.

Why test in a real environment?

The public sector needs to be the driving force in finding new ways of working, taking advantage of the opportunities with data and tech/digital technology, the knowledge of innovative companies, as well as the individual's own abilities significantly more in order to cope with the great health challenges of the future. Interaction creates insights and "Test in a real environment" is a form of interaction where real needs meet concrete solutions in structured forms.

The companies receive feedback and can develop their solutions so that they meet the needs and can create value.

Fundamental principals

The process for "Test in a real environment" is based on a number of basic principles, all of which contribute to the fact that the test results can be used for further work or decisions:

Interaction creates insights.

Innovation requires space to experiment.

Co-creation and competition can be combined.

It is possible to take less risk when we know less - and greater risk when we know more.

Adjacencies

The method support ensures that the test is carried out in a safe and structured way and takes into account factors such as laws that can often be perceived as obstacles and support in decision-making processes. For example:

Application

The method support can be applied in an existing project, a process or a development and improvement work where testing can be a part.

The process

The process focuses on the test itself and the aspects that you need to take into account. The method support gives structure to your tests and creates security for everyone who participates or acts as stakeholders for the test results, for example decision makers. Before a test can be carried out, needs need to be identified and matched with solutions. The work around needs and matching is only described overall in this method support and is not covered more deeply in this process. "Test in real environment" consists of three phases - preparation, implementation and termination. For each phase there are:

Templates that help you plan and document the work and disseminate the results.
